It’s mid-February 2025, and with Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series laptops about to hit the market, I was curious to see how gaming laptop prices in Sri Lanka are shaping up. If you’re planning to buy a gaming laptop, one of the best courses of action could be to purchase it from another country on a day like Black Friday or Cyber Monday. In this post, I’ll explore the available laptop options for those who cannot purchase one from another country.
I analyzed over 100 laptops from reputable Sri Lankan online retailers and compiled a few lists. Please note that all the laptops included are currently available on Sri Lankan retailers’ websites and are based on RTX 4060 & RTX4070. The prices listed are indicative and may vary. I also have details on where to purchase these laptops, but I’ve removed that information from the shared sheet, as it could be a double-edged sword.

Based on the available information, I have prepared the following three lists:
- Best Bang for the Buck
- Budget RTX 4060 Gaming Laptops
- Budget RTX 4070 Gaming Laptops
Best Bang for the Buck
For this analysis, I focused specifically on laptops equipped with Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 and RTX 4070 mobile GPUs. To evaluate their performance, I considered CPU benchmark scores, using PassMark CPU benchmarks, as they provide a relatively good indication of processor performance. The following selection highlights laptops with the best overall CPU/GPU balance. These prices are the minimum prices I found on retailer’s websites.
| Rank | Laptop Name | GPU | CPU | Passmark Single-Core | Passmark Multi-Core | Price | Memory |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | HP VICTUS 16-S1023DX | 8GB RTX 4070 | Ryzen 7 8845HS | 3768 | 28702 | Rs387,500.00 | 16 GB DDR5 5600 MHz |
| 2 | Lenovo Legion 5 -16IRX9 | 8GB RTX 4060 | i7-13650HX | 3779 | 30991 | Rs390,000.00 | 16GB DDR5 |
| 3 | MSI SWORD 16 HX B14VFKG | 8GB RTX 4060 | i7-14650HX | 3907 | 35673 | Rs415,000.00 | 16 GB DDR5 5600 MHz |
| 4 | HP OMEN Gaming 16-AE0010ST | 8GB RTX 4060 | i7-14650HX | 3907 | 35673 | Rs425,000.00 | 16 GB DDR5 5600 MHz |
| 5 | Lenovo LOQ 15IRX9 | 8GB RTX 4060 | i7-13650HX | 3779 | 30991 | Rs425,000.00 | 16GB DDR5 4800 MHz |
The biggest surprise for me was the HP VICTUS, which offered an RTX 4070 at a highly competitive price. It also featured a Ryzen 7 8845HS, a solid processor for gaming. The listed prices included 512GB storage in both HP laptops and the Lenovo LOQ, while the Lenovo Legion 5 and MSI Sword came with 1TB internal storage. If I had to choose, my top picks would be either the HP VICTUS or the Lenovo Legion 5.
An honorable mention goes to the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16, which comes with an Intel Core i9-14900HX; arguably one of the best laptop processors available to date for around Rs. 450,000.00. If your target workload would be more CPU-bound, this would be a great choice.
The full list of the Gaming Laptops can be found from here. It includes the Laptop Display, ports and other specification information as well. Also, it includes laptops belonging to 9 different mobile GPUs ranging from RTX 2050 – RTX 5080 (Pre-Order with a wait time).

The following are some of the most affordable gaming laptops featuring the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 mobile GPU.
| Rank | Laptop Name | CPU | Passmark Scores Single-Core / Multi-Core | Price | Memory |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Lenovo LOQ Gaming 15ARP9 – Ryzen 7 | Ryzen 7 7435HS | 3195 / 23608 | Rs325,000.00 | 24GB DDR5 4800 MHz |
| 2 | Asus TUF A15 FA507NVR Gaming – Ryzen 7 | Ryzen 7 7435HS | 3195 / 23608 | Rs333,500.00 | 16GB DDR5 4800 MHz or 16GB DDR5 5600 MHz |

| 9 | Lenovo Legion 5 -16IRX9 | i7-13650HX | 3779 / 30991 | Rs398,000.00 | 16GB DDR5 |
| 10 | HP Omen 16-wd0073dx Gaming | i7-13620H | 3646 / 24529 | Rs399,000.00 | 16GB DDR5 5200 MHz |
This category is dominated by Lenovo LOQ, Asus TUF, and MSI Cyborg gaming laptops. Notably, all these laptops are available for under Rs. 400,000.00. Except for the MSI Cyborg 15A12VF, all the other models come with at least 16GB of memory.
Budget RTX 4070 Gaming Laptops
The following are gaming laptops equipped with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 mobile GPU.
| Rank | Laptop Name | CPU | Passmark Scores Single-Core / Multi-Core | Price | Memory |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | HP VICTUS 16-S1023DX | Ryzen 7 8845HS | 3763 / 28669 | Rs387,500.00 | 16 GB DDR5-5600 MHz |
| 2 | MSI KATANA 15 B13VGK i7 | i7-13620H | 3645 / 24524 | Rs415,000.00 | 16GB DDR5 |
| 3 | Asus Tuf Gaming FX507VI-F15 | i7-13620H | 3645 / 24524 | Rs420,000.00 | 16GB DDR5 |
As seen above, all three gaming laptops can be purchased for Rs. 420,000.00 or less. One downside is that their CPUs are relatively mid-range performers, but they are still more than capable for at least another five years.
Interestingly, according to this recent Tom’s Hardware article PassMark scores have seen a decline in 2025 for the first time in two decades, meaning these CPUs should still perform well for productivity tasks.
Relative Performance of Nvidia’s Mobile GPUs
To provide a clearer picture of the relative performance of Nvidia’s mobile GPUs, I developed the following scale, assigning points from 1 to 10 based on GPU performance, with 10 representing the mobile RTX 4090’s performance. These points should be used as a general guideline only, as other factors may also affect a GPU’s performance in a given laptop.
| Nvidia GeForce Mobile GPU | Relative Points |
|---|---|
| GeForce RTX4050 | 4 |
| GeForce RTX4060 | 5 |
| GeForce RTX4070 | 6 |
| GeForce RTX4080 | 9 |
| GeForce RTX4090 | 10 |
With RTX 50-series laptops expected to hit the market by March 2025, they should become widely available in the coming months. This shift will officially make the RTX 40-series an older generation, potentially leading to price drops for laptops equipped with these GPUs.
If you’re looking to buy a gaming laptop and don’t want to wait for the RTX 50 series, now might be the perfect time to keep an eye on prices and snag a deal before stocks start clearing out!
